Finding a good Persimmon is tough. So tough that it's really not that popular here in Toronto. If, or when you are fortunate enough find a good persimmon you become a little bit obsessed with the unique flavour mix of mango, peach, plum and honey. Delicious and modest would be in a Persimmon's dating app. 

Similar to a tomato, the Persimmon would never be called a "berry," when in fact they both are. 

For optimal Persimmon satisfaction you are going to want to leave the fruit out on the counter until the skin is deep orange and soft. Then you can enjoy the custard and jelly-like texture that bursts with tropical and honey flavour.

Preparation Ideas: Freeze them, defrost them, cut off the tops, sit on the couch, and spoon out the delicious, creamy and custardy fruit. You can freeze over-ripe persimmons, or you can freeze firm persimmons. Frozen, firm persimmons will soften and preserve in the freezer.
