This horned melon might not look local, but neither does Pawpaw. A proud member of the cucumber and melon family, Kiwano has a tart, cucumber flavour. You can tell when it's ripe when the skin becomes a lush orange. Once ripe you will also taste notes of banana. Put it in a cocktail, eat it with a spoon, make ice cream with it, use the shell as a bowl or a hat. There is no going wrong with yet another amazing and weird fruit from Ontario.
Do not throw at your friends.
